A 15-year-old third form student of Queen’s College has been remanded to prison after he was charged with robbery under arms and possession of an illegal firearm and ammunition.The accused made his appearance yesterday at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court before Principal Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle.It is alleged that on Thursday July 10,Gaston Silva Uruguay Jersey, armed with a pistol,Angelo Henriquez Chile Jersey, he robbed Rabindranauth Baijnauth of cash and other valuables. It is also alleged that on the same day he had in his possession one pistol without being a licensed firearm holder. The lad also had eight rounds of matching ammunition for the weapon.The teen was represented by defense counsel Anil Nandlall and Euclin Gomes.Nandlall, in making a bail application, told the court that his client is an ardent church goer and both he and his parents have strong ties with the church at the East Coast Demerara village where he lives.According to Nandlall,Candido Ramirez Mexico Jersey, his client’s parents who were present in court are willing to give all assurances that if released on bail he will return for his trial.
